Abstract

Feline autosomical dominant polycystic kidney disease (PKD) is the most common feline genetic disease in Persian and Persian related cats, it is characterized by the growth of fluid cysts in the renal cortex and medulla, and occasionally also in the liver and the pancreas. The prevalence of PKD all over the world is between 30-8 45%, and it is diagnosed by ultrasound scanning and PCR trials. The aim of the this study was to determine the prevalence of PKD in Persians, Persians-related breeds, Mainecoon, Ragdoll, Balinese and Cross breed cats in veterinary teaching hospital of CES university.
