Abstract

Pennisetum clandestinum (commonly known as Kikuyo) is a perennial grass belonging to the Poaceae family that has been mainly used in pastures. This grass absorbs the ground nitrogen in inorganic form as nitrate and ammonium (NO3- and NH4 +) through protein transporters, expressed in roots. In this species, it had not been possible to identify the AMT and NRT genes that code for these transporters, in spite of the molecular efforts that have been made; therefore, the goal of our work was to identify the sequences of AMT1.1, AMT2.1, NRT1.1 and NRT2.1 genes using whole genome sequencing
